But Iron Man as a character was still viable, and it would only take Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr.
#Iron man villains series
Hawkeye+has+a+flying+motorcycle!It+doesn't+even+transform+at+all+-+it+just+flies! Overall though, the '90s Iron Man series just didn't have what it takes to stand out and make an impact, and so both it and its accompanying toy line were soon mostly forgotten. With more villains and guest stars (including the Hulk and Nick Fury), it's just a more interesting show, if still lacking the spark to really be something special.
#Iron man villains plus
There's more of an attempt at an ongoing storyline, which includes Force Work breaking up and a weakened Mandarin hiding in the shadows, plus more stories taken from the comics, including a version of the Armor Wars. And storywise, the villains stop coming off so stupid and the show stops being so predictable. The animation is better and more dynamic. But there are a lot of improvements as well.

Oh, there's plenty to mock, starting with Tony Stark's amazing new mullet, and the very funny/cheesy/awesome opening credits - where a shirtless Tony uses a hammer to forge his armor, while faux metal plays (complete with the words, "I Am Iron Man!"). Season 2 had different writers and animators, and it shows. It should be noted that the show was very different in Season 2, which begins with episode fourteen (you'll see nothing to indicate the change in seasons on the packaging or discs themselves). Yes,+this+happened.+Deal+with+it.+ This set collects all 26 episodes of the series. You know you're in trouble when the first episode had MODOK disguised as a baby in a carriage. The stories are weak and the villains ineffectual or used for embarrassing comic relief. However, Iron Man gets pretty old pretty fast. While this is not the coolest team ever, it is at least a pseudo-Avengers team – the first time we had a version of that team be part of an ongoing series like this. If that last name doesn't ring a bell, it's understandable – Century is a completely forgettable character from the pages of Force Works, the failed mid-90s Avengers spinoff comic, whose members were the inspiration for Tony's team here (Hawkeye was substituted for the comics USAgent, in addition to War Machine). Yes, I said superhero buddies, because one aspect of the show that at least makes it fun for comic book fans is the inclusion of a team that constantly works with Iron Man (voiced by Airplane! star Robert Hays), consisting of War Machine, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman (the Julia Carpenter version), The Scarlet Witch and Century.

The first season quickly set up a pattern, where Iron Man's arch-nemesis The Mandarin would have his new Plan of the Week (sometimes involving a new weapon, sometimes involving stealing Tony Stark's own technology) and he and his crew of supervillains would get trounced by Iron Man and his superhero buddies. Unfortunately, Iron Man was a rather pedestrian series, offering run of the mill adventures for the character, and failing to make much of an impression– leading to its cancellation after two seasons. But with Marvel in the midst of launching several animated series (including X-Men, Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and The Fantastic Four), it was decided that perhaps the time had come for Tony Stark and his armored alter-ego to get more attention, and so Iron Man got his first animated solo series – and his first ongoing appearance in animation at all since he was one of the five rotating segments on the 1966 Marvel Superheroes. Oh sure, everybody loves Iron Man now, but back in 1994, he was still off the radar for the mainstream.
